All around the world, at 17.59 on September 23rd 2010 Ireland once again celebrated the remarkable life and legacy of Arthur Guinness.
Building on the success of last year's inaugural global celebration, Arthur's Day was back, with a series of remarkable celebrations and live music events taking place around the world.
Here in Ireland celebrations took place on a national in scale, with amazing artists and acts performing at events in Cork, Galway and Dublin, along with 100's of bands playing in pubs throughout Ireland.
Temple Bar Trad is Dublin's premier celebration of traditional music and culture. Each year, we try and bring some of Ireland's top traditional musicians (and sometimes a few friends from overseas as well!) to play during the festival weekend. The Temple Bar Pub is proud to host top traditional Irish music artists each year.. This year is no exception.
The celebrations began in Dublin at 17:59 local time with a global toast to Arthur Guinness to mark the 250 years since he signed the 9,000 year lease on the St. James's Gate brewery and kicked off the Arthur’s Day global events. In Dublin thousands of people came together to experience the live music events in over 30 venues across Dublin from intimate gigs in pubs to music venues and even a concert at the St. James’s Gate brewery itself. The Temple Bar Pub were proud to be one of those venues.
This annual festival takes place on June 16 and is dedicated to James Joyce. Events scheduled throughout the day include a ritual Pilgrimage along the "Ulyssses" trail made famous in Joyce's writing, public readings, parades and tours of other Joyce landmarks. The Temple Bar Pub has long been a part of the Bloomsday tradition.
